Ten Lies About Diabetes in Pregnancy – and the Truth

You’re cruising along, enjoying your pregnancy, picking out strollers when suddenly you get a diagnosis that takes you by complete surprise!

You have just been told you have gestational diabetes.

When I work with my patients, I see several fears and misconceptions arise with this diagnosis. You might feel suddenly out of control or that it’s all your fault.

Instead of being paralyzed, what we’re going to do today is name these lies and counter them with the truth.

Diabetes is one of the most common problems in pregnancy. And there is no need to fear if you have all the facts. If you’re pregnant or hope to become pregnant soon, this week’s episode is a must-watch.

About 8 – 10% of all pregnant women will have gestational diabetes at some point. And about 30% of women with gestational diabetes will continue to have diabetes after their pregnancy.

So learning the truth about this condition and how to best manage it is so important for your health and your baby’s. The more you know about this or any condition the better you’ll be able to manage it successfully.
